New Paintings – July 2011
Here are a couple of new paintings completed near the end of my time at the Florence Trust. These both featured in the end of Residency summer show which finished on Monday (18th July). A few more new pieces can be found on my website along with these, click here to view them. I’ll be writing about the exhibition and thoughts on my time at The Florence Trust soon.
A year of blogging
Its been almost exactly a year since I began this blog on the advise of others, at the time I wasn’t convinced of the need of having one, nor that I would have much to say, however it has as you’ve probably gathered, become a large part of my working practice.
Here’s some geeky figures from my last year of painting and blogging -
43 posts
2798 visits
9 comments (must try harder)
163 shows visited (must stop counting)
7 exhibitions taken part in
2 studios
Fade Away at Transition Gallery continues until 24th December and is well worth a look. The Florence Trust open studio is happening at the end of January and I’ll put up more information about that in the new year. I’m starting to work on a couple of ideas for group exhibitions so maybe they will be a feature in the next 12 months.
Thanks to all those that have read my words over the past year and I hope you have a great Christmas and New Year.

where do i start?
Welcome to my blog. Not sure how this will pan out but here goes. I’m an artist based in East London (there are a few of us!), I predominantly work in oil paint from my studio on Vyner Street. I’ve had my website www.andywicks.co.uk for around 8 years, dating back to when I was at school (an early starter) but never got into blogging. Its been suggested that its a good way to compliment what I do with my website and fill in the gaps with random thoughts, work in progress and general newsworthyness.
